Hull City ready to play hardball with Tottenham and West Ham over Keane Lewis-Potter
Hull City remain committed to keeping hold of Keane Lewis-Potter this summer in the face of growing interest, which could be peaked even further should the rising star impress in his first taste of England under-21s football on Friday night. The 21-year-old is part of the international set-up after a first call-up and could make his debut against Andorra in Bournemouth this week.
Lewis-Potter has spoken this week on international duty about talk of him attracting Premier League interest and is saying all the right things, with his club following suit. Owner Acun Ilicali made it clear following his takeover that he wouldn't be interested in selling the homegrown player even if an offer of £20m came in from the Premier League.
While Brentford's £12m bid for Lewis-Potter was swiftly knocked back in January, City's resolve could be given a real test this summer with the Bees expected to return with a fresh bid, while the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are also closely monitoring the situation and the form of the player.
City boss Shota Arveladze believes international recognition will only see Lewis-Potter's value rise further, with that valuation bumped up beyond the £12m Brentford previously bid. While offers are expected come the summer, City are in no rush to cash in on their prize asset and see the attacking talent as key to their planned pursuit of promotion out of the Championship next season.
