Hull City goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright recounts 'surreal' England experience
Hull City goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright has described his appearance for England under-20s during the international break as a 'surreal experience'. The outing gave him his first cap at under-20 level having previously featured for the Three Lions under-18s and came less than two months after making his professional debut with the Tigers.
England fell to a 2-0 defeat and the 19-year-old lamented a lack of cutting edge, but the result seemingly failed to dampened the spirits of the young goalkeeper. Speaking to the official Hull City website, he said: "To receive my first cap for the under-20s is just amazing.
“When I found out I was starting, I was buzzing and I just couldn’t wait to play for my country. It was a surreal experience to play the game. To sing the national anthem was probably the most incredible part, because you hear it all the time when the seniors are playing, so to be a part of a starting XI and sing and represent my country was an unbelievable feeling.

"The team took that result into the Germany game and we managed to right our wrongs from that game and get the win.”
