Hull City, Brentford deal ‘close to completion’

Brentford striker Marcus Forss is very close to joining Hull City on loan, according to Will Unwin from The Guardian.

Football League World exclusively revealed back in December that Championship clubs had been alerted to the possibility of the 22-year-old leaving the Bees on loan – with Fulham, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Stoke City, Nottingham Forest, and West Bromwich Albion among the teams to take an interest.

But it appears Hull – following the recent takeover by Acun Ilicali – are now set to land the Finnish striker on transfer deadline day.

Unwin has reported that Forss’ loan move from Brentford to the Tigers is very close to completion.

The Finland international played an important role in the west London club’s promotion to the Premier League last season – scoring 10 times – but has found opportunities much harder to come by in 2021/22.

Forss has played little more than 200 minutes in the league this term but has impressed in the cup competitions – scoring five times in four Carabao Cup games and finding the net in his side’s FA Cup victory over Port Vale.

The Verdict

This looks like a fantastic bit of business from a Hull perspective.

Forss proved last season that he’s got the quality to score goals in the Championship and he’ll likely be hungry to make the most of a regular run of games after playing second fiddle to Ivan Toney this term.

The pre-window interest from a host of Championship clubs – most of them with promotion aspirations – indicates just how highly the 22-year-old is rated and highlights what a fantastic addition this is for the Tigers.

A forward line that includes Forss, Josh Bowler, and Keane Lewis-Potter is a mouthwatering proposition.
