Hugo Broos at peace with leaving in-form Andile Jali out of Bafana Bafana squad
Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is happy with his choice of leaving the in-form Andile Jali out of his 23-man squad for matches against Guinea and France at the end of the month.
The Belgium boss announced a squad that included Jali's Mamelodi Sundowns team-mates Rushine De Reuck, Lyle Lakay, Khuliso Mudau, Teboho Mokoena and Mothobi Mvala.
Jali has been immense for Sundowns in midfield and his strong performances left South Africans believing he would soon return to the national squad.
Sundowns are well on their quest for a sixth consecutive league crown and are still in the hunt for a second CAF Champions League star.
However, despite the 31-year-old's performances, Broos has looked the other way and is content with not selecting the player.
"You know this is a choice. This is a choice I made," Broos said via SABC Sport.
"I know Jali very well because he played in Belgium. And this is a choice I made from the beginning. And I'm still OK for myself with that choice.
"So, I will try other players. Jali is an older player too. So, I think that with the younger players I have now, I am [also] looking for other types of players in the midfield."
The senior men's national team will face Guinea, instead of Zambia, as previously stated, in Belgium on Friday, 25 March (kick-off is at 19:00 SA time).
Meanwhile, four days later on Tuesday, 29 March (22:00 SA time), Bafana Bafana will face world champions France in Lille.
