Huge match announced for Forbidden Door
Last night’s AEW Dynamite saw CM Punk set his sights on next month’s Forbidden Door Pay-Per-View, where he will walk into his hometown of Chicago at the United Center as AEW World Champion.
Who answered The Best In The World’s challenge?
To kick off Dynamite, the trio of AEW World Champion CM Punk and the AAA and ROH Tag Team Champions FTR teamed up to take on The Acclaimed’s Max Caster as well as The Gunn Club.
Punk and FTR would be taken to the limit by the opposition but ultimately walk out victors after a GTS from Punk followed by the Big Rig from FTR to pick up the victory.
Punk took to the microphone after the match to show respect to his friends and partners FTR while focusing their attention on the 26th of June when AEW and NJPW crossover for the highly anticipated Forbidden Door Pay-Per-View.
Punk was tired of waiting and demanded someone to come through the forbidden door and out to the stage to accept his challenge.
This was revealed to be none other than NJPW legend and Grand Slam Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi to set the stage for the potential main event of the show.
Tanahashi is a veteran in the game and an 8-time IWGP Heavyweight, this is the most title reigns in the company’s history.
This is the first step into the shaping of the Forbidden Door card, and there will bound to be more matches revealed over the coming weeks.
