Huge crowds stormed Wilmslow Road in Rusholme on Tuesday night (July 25) amid reports of a celebrity 'meet and greet' in the area.

Videos shared on social media, including on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, showed hundreds of people spilling out into the road and lining the pavements at around 9pm.

It is understood the response was to professional martial artist and wrestler Khamzat Chimaev, who was hosting a 'meet and greet' at the Mr T's venue, on Wilmslow Road in southern Manchester.

Footage showed hundreds filling the streets and blocking the typically busy road on Tuesday night as others stood on top of bus stops while filming on their mobile phones.

The MMA fighter, originally from Russia, who boasts six million followers on Instagram, shared a public story from inside a car Wilmslow Road, which he captioned 'love you' as crowds took pictures and videos of him.
