Huge boost: Everton handed massive injury lifeline that may save them from relegation - opinion

Everton took a phenomenal win in their fight for survival in the Premier League last weekend at Goodison Park against Manchester United, and with the chances of survival growing for Frank Lampard, a huge boost to the squad is expected for the Leicester City clash.

According to Liverpool Echo, Toffees centre-back Yerry Mina will be available for selection and back to full fitness ahead of their next Premier League fixture on the 20th April against Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The report suggests that Mina will be put straight back into defensive line-up in the game at Goodison Park, following a ten-day rest due to FA Cup semi-final fixtures this weekend.

Having the 6 foot 3 central defender back in the side will be a huge boost for Everton in their relegation fight, especially when you consider his impact and influence on the side when he has played this term.

The 27-year-old has been a positive influence in the defensive play for the Toffees this season with Mina being involved in four of the eight games Everton have won, but has been injured for the other four victories following thigh problems and a long term hamstring injury that have kept him sidelined for 17 games.

The Everton boss spoke about the defender’s upcoming return and influence on the team earlier this month, saying: “He’s a big player for us. He’s international player, a player of stature, personality, a big personality in the dressing room.”

“He’s been a big miss, players have filled in but having him back will be a big bonus for us when he does come back.”
