Huge blow: Rangnick suffers late MUFC setback vs Norwich, supporters will be worried - opinion

Manchester United are set to host Norwich City at Old Trafford this afternoon and Ralf Rangnick will surely be hoping that they can secure three points to get themselves back into the race for top four. However, a fresh injury set-back has been revealed.

Rangnick has given an update on Luke Shaw’s injury and recovery time following surgery in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

The Man United boss told the press;

“As it seems, he will be out for another at least four weeks, if not five weeks, so I think for him it will be difficult to be available for one of the remaining seven games.”

He further added that five players will be absent with injury issues ahead of the clash;

“Five players will still be missing for tomorrow and some of them probably for the upcoming games. You’ve already mentioned Fred and Scott, Raphael Varane will still be missing out, Shaw, who had his bolts and metal stuff removed from his leg and Edinson Cavani.”

There is no doubt that losing an experienced player like Luke Shaw from the squad over the rest of the season will be a worry for supporters of the club, as it puts them in a much more vulnerable position when attempting to claim the top four spot ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Despite sharing his left-back position with Alex Telles this season, Shaw has been a force for his team going forward in his role over 20 appearances in the league, creating five big chances, averaging at 68.2 touches and 1.9 key passes per game with an impressive pass accuracy of 90% in his own half, according to SofaScore, proving he was effective in his role when fit.

With that being said, Manchester United should have enough quality to beat the Canaries this afternoon with the visitors
