Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton is expected to move to the Championship this summer, according to the Yorkshire Post.

It is understood that the Elland Road academy product could depart either permanently or on loan but a move to the second tier is expected.

But who should be in pursuit of him and why?

Shackleton’s versatility would make him an asset for the vast majority of second tier clubs.

From the player’s perspective, it is crucial that he moves to a club where he will start regularly, or there is an argument that the 22-year-old would be better off staying at Leeds on the fringes for another season.

Coventry City stand out as a club with a good reputation for developing young players, who could benefit from having a dynamic attack-minded player like Shackleton in their fluid three-at-the-back system.

Mark Robins has had a positive impact on a number of loanees from the Premier League in his time at the CBS Arena, and Shackleton’s energy in central midfield or wide areas could help the Sky Blues back up their impressive 2021/22 campaign.
