Huddersfield, Middlesbrough and Sunderland pursuing 18-year-old attacking signing

Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough and Sunderland are all interested in signing 18-year-old striker Josh Stones from Guiseley, a report from TeamTalk has claimed.

Still at an early stage of his career, Stones is already starting to make his way in senior football, and has scored once in 12 first-team appearances for his current club, while he has also been capped and scored for England Schoolboys at Under 18s level recently.

Guiseley currently sit 20th in the National League North table, and it seems Stones is now attracting plenty of attention from further up the football pyramid.

According to this latest update, a number of clubs are now taking an interest in Stones, with Championship duo Huddersfield and Middlesbrough, as well as League One Sunderland, all said to have watched the teenager recently.

However, those sides could face significant competition for his signature, with Premier League sides Wolves, Watford, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Newcastle all also credited with an interest in the striker.

Stones only signed first-team terms with Guiseley earlier this season, following an excellent start to the campaign with the club’s youth team, highlighting his rapid rise.

The Verdict

You feel that this has the potential to be a useful piece of business for one of these EFL clubs.

Stones is clearly a promising young striker, and he could certainly be one for the future, given it may be a bit too much of a step up for him to go straight into the senior setup with those sides.
