How to watch Hannah Rankin vs Alejandra Ayala: TV channel and live stream

Having already made history as Scotland's first ever women's world boxing champion, Hannah Rankin will again carve herself into the history books this Friday as she becomes the first woman to headline a major fight event in Scotland when she takes on Alejandra Ayala.

The 31-year-old will be making her first defence of her WBA and IBO World Super Welterweight Titles against the Mexican, with a bumper crowd expected inside Glasgow's OVO Hydro for a night of all-Scottish boxing. A two-time and now double world title holder, Rankin is in excellent form coming into the fight after beating Sweden's Maria Lindberg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last November to claim the vacant super welterweight belts.

But standing in her way is the 33-year-old Mexican, who has won 14 of her 19 fights, with eight KOs to her name. An aggressive style of fighter, Ayala will have her first attempt at claiming world honours but it will be a tough ask in front of the home crowd.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic to be fighting at the Hydro," said Rankin. "It’s one of the main venues in Scotland and every Scottish fighter would love the chance to fight there. So, to be the main event there, I’m absolutely buzzing.“I really want this night to be a showcase of Scottish talent because boxing in Scotland is absolutely flying at the moment. Ayala can have as many weeks as she wants but she won’t be taking my belts away from me at home in front of my Scottish fans.”

Ahead of the fight this Friday, here is everything you need to know:

The event takes place on Friday, 13th May. The fighters are expected to ring walk at around 10:00pm (BST).

The fight will take place at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow.
