How Ruben Amorim channelled Man United anger after Brighton speaks volumes for current mess

Manchester United's head coach Ruben Amorim has been in charge for roughly two months - and even in that short period of time we have come to learn some things about his character.

Unlike his predecessor, Amorim is comfortable in press conferences, often supported by his core belief that his tactics are the right way to move the club forward. He's also mild-mannered, as well, and it's rare away from the touchline to not see him with a smile on his face.

However, the 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton and Hove Albion appears to have triggered something in him. The rage from the touchline was visible for all to see as the inevitable defeat was confirmed.

A report from The Athletic has since surfaced which sheds light on how his anger blew the squad away, especially considering he has made a habit of analysing matches a day later. This time, Amorim's fury led to him ripping up his own rule book with a TV screen paying the ultimate price.

In his press conference later on, Amorim may have been calmer, but his words were still cutting like daggers. He declared this current group of players as maybe the "worst in United's history" - and it's tough to argue with that.

When Amorim speaks to the media again ahead of the match with Rangers in the Europa League, the boss may choose to dial back his comments. Perhaps he will suggest that he was speaking in the heat of the moment.

However, United fans will not be fooled. They know that many a true word is spoken in the heat of the moment and none have seemed more true to date than Amorim's assessment on Sunday.
