How much Erling Haaland will really cost Manchester City? £63m fee only the start of eye popping deal

Football superstar Erling Haaland looks set to be heading to the Premier League this summer after Manchester City triggered the Borussia Dortmund star's £63 million release clause.

Pep Guardiola 's side are understood to have negotiated a financial package worth £500,000 per week for the 21-year-old striker in a five-year deal, with the transfer expected to sealed 'within the next week', according to multiple reports.

That would mean the Norwegian would earn a staggering £26m a year - totalling £130 million over the entire contract. Making him the highest paid player in world football.

And there is a few hidden fees reported to be involved in the deal too.

City have yet to fully replace Sergio Aguero, who ended his decade long Etihad stay last summer after their failed pursuit of Spurs talisman Harry Kane.

But could have to fork out almost as much as the cost of the transfer fee on agent fees to secure Haaland.

It is thought that there is a demand for the Manchester club to pay £17m in agent fees for Mino Raiola and£17m to his father, Alf-Inge Haaland.

That adds up to an eye-popping £227m in total when you factor in the release clause, wages and added payments.

Haaland grew up in England while his dad played for Leeds and Manchester City.

The striker’s record stands at 82 goals in 85 matches in Germany.

And normally that level of return would normally produce a nine-figure transfer valuation, though it’s long been reported a £63m release clause can be activated this summer.

Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl confirmed the existence of the clause to Sky Germany last week.

He said: “There is a release clause, you know, and there is a deadline.

“We want to make a decision as soon as possible.”
