How Manchester United should line up vs Liverpool in Premier League fixture

Manchester United take on fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

United looked to be suffering a hangover from their League Cup victory against West Ham at Old Trafford on Wednesday, but they still managed to secure a 3-1 victory after completing a late comeback to ensure progression in the FA Cup.

Erik ten Hag's side will now return to Premier League action with a visit to Anfield, a stadium where United have not won since Louis van Gaal was in charge in January 2016, when Wayne Rooney scored to claim a narrow 1-0 win.

Regarding team news, Anthony Martial remains unavailable. Luke Shaw suffered a knock against Newcastle but is expected to be back, while Jadon Sancho was absent earlier in the week due to illness but should return to the squad.

United have to restore their 'secure square' of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Fred. Luke Shaw is also needed as he is expected to be back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, unfortunate not to start at Wembley and in midweek, is the in-form right-back.

As well as Alejandro Garnacho played in midweek, you want Marcus Rashford running at Trent Alexander-Arnold. Alexander-Arnold struggles at defending and United's two most satisfying wins over Liverpool in the last five years came through targeting him.

Ten Hag should have more options available to him at Anfield and one of the biggest pluses will be if Shaw is available. He has to come back in at left-back to try and shackle Salah. On the other flank, Wan-Bissaka looks more reliable defensively than Dalot
