How Manchester United's 25-man Premier League squad is shaping up amid transfers and homegrown rules
Manchester United could be faced with some big calls as they seek to iron out their 25-man squad for the Premier League season.
The club got off to a winning start to the new season albeit with a less-than-convincing victory over Wolves. With two weeks remaining in the transfer window, there have been calls for United to bolster their midfield and provide additional support to Casemiro, who was often left stranded on Monday night.
United have already brought in Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund this summer and have been praised for their approach to the transfer market. However, Ten Hag may need to either offload some players or omit them from his squad given the current state of play at United.

Under the rules, clubs are allowed to name up to 25 players in their Premier League squads after the transfer window shuts on September 1. However, a team cannot include more than 17 non-homegrown players on their respective list, while the remaining players must be homegrown.

Additionally, clubs are also able to name an under-21 list, with these players not officially included in the senior group and freeing up space in the 25-man Premier League squad. For the 2023/24 season, this applies to all players born on or after 1 January 2002.
