How Man City should line up vs Bournemouth in Premier League fixture

Manchester City return home on Saturday when they take on newly promoted Bournemouth in their second Premier League match of the season.

City got their title defence off to the perfect start last week with a dominant 2-0 victory over West Ham which saw Erling Haaland introduce himself to England in some style. The Etihad faithful could see the new star striker in action for the first time during the visit of the Cherries.

Kalvin Phillips is set to miss out but Julian Alvarez will also be hoping to make their home debuts against Bournemouth, who also got off to a winning start by defeating Aston Villa 2-0. The injured Aymeric Laporte remains unavailable while Phillips and Cole Palmer are doubts.

City looked tremendous against West Ham and, with a week between their games, there is no need to change the XI.

If Bournemouth are looking for any tips from the display at the London Stadium though, it may be worth switching Foden and Jack Grealish around to give City natural wingers and stretch the space in the same way that they restricted it last week. That is harsh on Riyad Mahrez not to start again, but he should be able to see plenty of the second half and make his case to start at Newcastle.

Ilkay Gundogan showed his class and it makes no sense to drop him to the bench for Bernardo Silva while the Portugal international still has not sorted his future. Kevin De Bruyne obviously plays.
