How Man City should line up against West Ham in Premier League fixture

The games are well and truly coming at breakneck speed now and Manchester City will once again return to Premier League action on Wednesday evening as they take on West Ham.

The Blues finally overtook Arsenal at the weekend with a narrow 2-1 win over Fulham while still holding two games in hand. The Gunners had the chance to leapfrog them and move back into first against Chelsea on Tuesday night, but City's two games in hand mean they are in the box seat.

Pep Guardiola has been boosted by the return of Nathan Ake. The defender has been absent since suffering a hamstring injury against Bayern Munich last month but returned to training on Monday and is set to be in the squad.

Kevin De Bruyne is still a doubt, though, after he missed Monday's session with the injury that ruled him out of the trip to Craven Cottage. The Belgian was assessed on Tuesday evening but it is not yet clear if he will be available.

"Nathan trained with us yesterday and feels good," the manager said. "Kevin started to move but hasn't trained with the team. We have training again at 4pm."

The return of Ake to the squad should be a boost for Guardiola, but it might make sense to safe him for the weekend and then Real Madrid. Guardiola called Sunday's defensive performance one of the best of the season so why not stick with the same defensive set-up.

Rodri is clearly a certain starter and it might be too soon for De Bruyne. That means a start for Gundogan again and Bernardo can come in to offer up some fresh legs in midfield.
