How Jimmy Thelin's exit to Aberdeen FC will be marked by Elfsborg as Allsvenskan swansong doesn't go to plan

Jimmy Thelin revealed he'll mark the end of his time at Elfsborg with a "simple meal" with his staff and squad before he takes the reins at Aberdeen.

The Swede will officially start as Dons boss on Monday as the Pittodrie club finally install Barry Robson's permanent replacement. Neil Warnock's brief interim stint in the dugout proved to be a disaster, with the veteran English boss chucking it after around a month in the North East. Peter Leven restored some order before the end of the Premiership season, and he is expected to stay on as assistant first team coach.

Thelin wrapped up his time in Sweden with a 1-0 defeat away to IFK Goteborg. And as he fielded questions from the Swedish media for the last time, he admitted that there would be a night out to mark the occasion, but nothing too wild. Thelin said: "It will be a simpler dinner with some talk and such, with certain people. It will probably be a while before we see each other again otherwise.

Asked if will be a late night, Thelin replied: "I do not know. I'm pretty tired now, I have to admit. We'll see."

On how his last match panned, Thelin added: "Of course we wanted a day like this so that everyone who attends Elfsborg would have a fantastic evening and end to this. But somewhere I think there is a force here that will be very good in the end, says Thelin at the press conference after the match.

"There is a lot of prestige in this match. We gave it our all and couldn't have done much more. It's a different feeling when you don't win your last match with the gang, but afterwards we all gathered in a ring when we split up and look towards the future instead."
