How Hull City’s average attendance this season compares to recent seasons

After securing promotion to the Championship last year, it was always going to be intriguing to see how Hull City would fare at this level during the current term.

Whereas the Tigers have struggled with their consistency throughout the season, they have managed to consolidate their place in the second-tier standings.

With the transfer window set to open following the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign, it will be intriguing to see whether Hull manager Shota Arveladze is able to assemble a squad which is capable of reaching new heights in the Championship later this year.

Ahead of the club’s clash with Bristol City this weekend, we have decided to compare Hull’s average attendance at the MKM Stadium this season with recent campaigns..

According to data gathered from Transfermarkt, Hull have had an average home attendance of 12,121 in the second-tier this season.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Tigers played all of their games at the MKM Stadium behind closed doors during the 2020/21 campaign.

When you compare Hull’s attendance figures with the 2019/20 season, they have seen an increase in the number of fans that have come to watch them as they only recorded an average of 9,868 in this particular term.

Whereas the Tigers are just shy of matching the figures that they recorded in the 2018/19 campaign, they are considerably short of the total that they recorded in the 2017/18 and the 2016/17 seasons.

During the latter of these two aforementioned seasons, Hull were participating in the Premier League and thus it is hardly a shock that 20,656 supporters attended their games at this level.
