Residents in a Harpurhey street woke this morning to the shocking news of gunshots fired metres from their homes. People living in homes on Evanton Walk rose this morning to a police scene and CSI hard at work on their doorstep following a shooting at around 2am (September 23).

No injuries have been reported by police, but police dogs and a Tactical Assist Unit came to do a sweep of the house targeted in the incident.

Many in the area heard shots in the middle of the night but woke to see no trace of a crime shortly before police turned up. “It was really loud [the gun shot],” one resident said. I jumped up in the night but didn’t see anyone. “About two minutes later the police came. People are there late at night quite a lot so it’s not a surprise it happened there. “This is not an area you expect that sort of thing to happen.
