Honors for National Cricket Championship qualifiers in Riyadh

RIYADH: The Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation in partnership with the Saudi Sports for All Federation honored the National Cricket Championship qualifiers at a ceremony in Riyadh recently.

The event marking the completion of the championship qualifiers was attended by representatives of participating associations and members of the cricket community.

The ceremony acknowledged the outstanding contributions of champions and standout players from four participating associations: Riyadh Cricket Association, Riyadh Cricket League, Qassim Cricket Association, and the Qassim Premier League.

This marks the third season of the championship, following the huge success achieved in the previous two editions. And is a part of the SACF’s efforts to expand the game across the Kingdom, while supporting the Quality of Life community objectives set under Saudi Vision 2030.

The championship features 14 cricket associations representing different regions of the Kingdom, with 405 teams playing in 1,160 matches across 101 grounds.

The final match of the tournament is scheduled for September, bringing together the champions of all qualified associations to compete for the National Cricket Championship title.

SACF Vice Chairman Nawaf bin Moied Alotaibi, who led the awards ceremony with the federation’s CEO Tariq bin Ziad Sagga, told Arab News “the growth of teams and participants reflects the success of the efforts made to expand the game across the Kingdom.”

The aim is to “build a strong competitive foundation that supports the future of cricket while aligning with Vision 2030 objectives in enhancing sports participation and quality of life.”
