Holly Willoughby shares heartbreak as she struggles to explain Ukraine crisis to her children

Holly Willoughby has shared about her struggle to explain the current events in the Ukraine to her young children.

The This Morning host expressed the thoughts of many parents as tragic scenes unfold on the TV and on social media from across the world.

It comes as Russia's invasion of Ukraine enters its second day with reports of explosions near major cities across the country.

Downing Street said on Friday that the Prime Minister has pledged further support "in the coming days" after President Volodymyr Zelensky updated him on the "terrible developments" in the Ukrainian capital.

Taking to Instagram on Friday morning, Holly, 41, shared an image of a military tank and soldiers with her millions of followers.

The mum-of-three then wrote: "How do I explain this to my children… I was asked questions last night I didn’t have the answers for…[broken heart emoji]."

Holly shares two sons and a daughter with her husband, TV producer Dan Baldwin - Harry, 12, Belle, ten, and youngest Chester, seven.

The TV star was soon flooded with comments sharing her heartbreak for the people of the Ukraine and sharing Holly's worries about her children.

@sarahhewsontv commented: "Same. My 7 year old asked if this was world war 3 and his 5 year old sister said 'oh no mummy, I don’t want to get sended away.'"

"My 6 year old boy was crying his eyes out life is too bloody scary," @ leaherobson replied.

@missemiliekay said: " Me too, my 8 year old was sat with me in the car yesterday whilst the radio was on and he asked me questions that not even I knew the answers to."

She was also offered some advice.
