Holder Peter Wright survives scare in Prague

Peter Wright survived a major scare at the beginning of his Czech Darts Open title defence after winning a last-leg decider to edge out fellow Scot Cameron Menzies.

Wright frittered away a 5-3 lead as Menzies levelled at 5-5 before the two-time world champion held his nerve in the winner-takes-all last leg, clinching a 6-5 victory with a 14-dart leg in Prague.

"Cammy has beaten me the last two times we've played on the European Tour," Wright, who beat Dave Chisnall in last year’s final, said in quotes on the PDC’s official website.

"He is a fantastic dart player and I knew it was going to be a tough game, but the crowd helped me here. It was a pleasure to play in front of them."

Five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld whitewashed Daryl Gurney 6-0 to set up a clash against Gerwyn Price, while Michael Smith defeated Kevin Doets 6-3. Fermanagh's Brendan Dolan lost 6-1 to Gabriel Clemens.

Mike De Decker, who stunned world number one Luke Humphries last weekend to win the World Grand Prix, averaged 104 as the Belgian eased to a 6-1 victory over Brett Claydon.

Nathan Aspinall will take on Luke Littler in one of ties of the second round after reeling off six legs in a row to defeat home hope Michal Smejda 6-1.
