History made! SA's Brad Binder becomes fastest MotoGP rider, clocks record 366.1km/h
South African rider Brad Binder made history at the Italian GP by breaking the MotoGP speed record after clocking 366.1km/h in qualifying on Saturday.
Binder beat Spaniard Jorge Martín's previous time of 363.6km/h set at Mugello last year. Before Saturday, Binder had recorded the tied second-fastest top speed record, 362.4km/h set in 2021, which he shared with Johann Zarco.

However, a crash ruined Binder's afternoon in which he ended 10th on the grid.
Meanwhile, world champion Francesco Bagnaia set a new track record to seal pole position, posting a new fastest ever lap at Ducati's home track of 1min44.855sec.
