Hibs threaten to slash Rangers and Celtic allocations as Hibees sick fed up of sectarian singing and pyro

Ben Kensell has threatened to cut away allocations for Celtic and Rangers due to away fan behaviour.

The Hibs CEO was grilled on the issue at the club’s AGM on Tuesday night, when Bill Foley’s £6million investment was ratified by shareholders. Hibees have become fed up of repeated use of pyrotechnics when the big two are in the capital, as well as sectarian singing.

Hibs currently allocate the entire south stand to Celtic and Rangers supporters, which is around 3,500 seats. City rivals Hearts have cut away allocations to around 600 to every club bar Hibs and Kensell was asked if the Leith outfit could go down the same route. He said: “There was a very clear view that came from the floor. We heard that and will act appropriately, once we’ve had a chance to discuss it It’s our prerogative in the SPFL to reduce allocations, if we wish.

“Up to this point we haven’t. It’s our prerogative if we want to do that if we want to. We’ll discuss it with the clubs in question. That’s all I’ve got to say on that.”

Asked about how sectarian singing can be stamped out, Kensell said: “I think clubs should get together. I think we, as clubs, should discuss it before taking it to league level.

“I think it’s something that we, as a collective, need to understand. How can we eradicate this from our game? Because it should be about what happens on the pitch.”
