Hibs star set challenge by Scotland boss after 'really serious' injury

Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet has been set the challenge of making the World Cup last this year after his season-ending knee injury.

The Cambuslang forward will miss most of 2022 after a knee injury in a Premiership match with Celtic earlier this year.

It has been confirmed he will miss the rest of this campaign and won't make this month's Scotland squad for matches with Poland and either of Austria or Wales.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke has handed Nisbet his chance on the international stage and now has set him a target for the end of year.

By keeping his fitness up, Clarke believes the Cambuslang man maintains his World Cup ambition.

He told the SFA: "I think I have shown I am quite loyal to my squad and the players I do pick.

"Kevin has picked up a really serious injury. It could be between six and nine months but we have the World Cup in December.

"He has that incentive to keep himself fit and do his rehab properly. Hopefully he gets back involved with the squad."
