Hibs kid returns to Airdrie as Diamonds rebuild for Championship tilt

Airdrie have re-signed midfielder Murray Aiken from Hibs on a loan deal until January.

The 19-year-old had a hugely successful spell at the Diamonds last season, with the club reaching the Premiership play-off quarter-finals and winning the SPFL Trust Trophy in their first season up from League One.

Aiken told Airdrie's website: "It's good to be back amongst the boys - there's been a few changes, but I had a good first training session today and I'm just buzzing to be back.

"We definitely had a good season last year, we're hoping to build on that. Hopefully we can do the same and try to better that, once more."

Airdrie boss Rhys McCabe said: "We're delighted to get Muzz back. Conversations had happened over the summer, and obviously we were waiting for the go-ahead from Hibs, with the new manager coming in.

"I know what Murray offers, legs and fitness level, and a different side to our midfield.

"He's got good experience from last year and he's desperate to play and kick on again, so we're delighted to get him back."

Hibernian director of football Malky Mackay said: "This is another good opportunity for Murray to gain more experience playing senior football at a good level, and a club that he knows well.

"Murray impressed during his first loan spell with Airdrieonians last season, and this is a good chance for him to build on that and get more minutes under his belt, between now and the end of the year."

Aiken joins goalkeeper Murray Johnson on loan from the Easter Road giants.
