Hibs bullying Hearts then soaking up last pound in jukebox anthem was flick switching moment – Tam McManus

If I'd to stick my last pound coin into the football anthem jukebox then 'Sunshine on Leith would start blaring out.

It's an emotional game, all of the things which a club has as its identity includes a tune and there are several on my backup list. I'll get to my Top of the Pops in a minute but the Hibs anthem is the best in the business, it enjoyed an airing after the derby win over Hearts and boss Lee Johnson admitted it brought a tear to his eye.

The actual birth of that song was during a UEFA Cup tie at Easter Road against AEK Athen and I was playing that night. No atmosphere compares to that evening in my career and any Hibees who were there may agree. Two goals down from the first-leg against a Greek side packed with international players, we were leading 2-0 in the second-leg and Paco Luna missed an absolute sitter in the last minute before we went out when they scored in extra-time.

I'd been at Hibs since 2007 and had never heard The Proclaimers song being played inside the stadium before, Hibs fans may want to correct me on the matter if I'm wrong. To be fair, they're usually not slow to get on my case if something I say in my Record Sport column is wide of the mark.

That night was unbelievable, unforgettable and we may have lost but it was a spine tingling occasion and showed exactly why football is so much more than a game, it's a bond between club, players and the supporters which is part of the fan DNA.

One of my other favourites is Newcastle's signature tune, 'Going Home (Theme of the Local Hero) That Mark Knopfler guitar intro gets me every time. 'You'll Never Walk Alone' at Celtic and Liverpool is another even if their former manager Ronny Deila thinks the atmosphere at his current club Standard Liege's
