Héritier Lumumba, Leon Davis and Andrew Krakouer to cut all ties with Collingwood over systemic racism dialogue

Former Collingwood player Héritier Lumumba says he, Leon Davis and Andrew Krakouer have terminated all communications with the Collingwood Football Club.

The former teammates had been in 15 months of dialogue with the club to address a string of racist incidents documented in the Do Better report published in 2021.

«It is our firm belief that the Collingwood Football Club has no intention of acting in good faith to achieve a just outcome for past players who have experienced racism at the Club,» Lumumba wrote on Twitter.

The Do Better report, published in 2021, found the AFL club had been guilty of systemic racism.

The report contained 18 recommendations for addressing the club's culture, including to «develop a strategy to address and reconcile past acts of racism» that did not punish those who spoke out.

Former club president Eddie McGuire famously fronted a press conference addressing the Do Better report by calling it an «historic and proud day» for the club, before later stepping down.

More to come.
