Hendrikse homecoming: Jordan to join brother Jaden at Sharks

The struggling Sharks have confirmed the signing of 22-year-old flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse, who makes the move from the Lions in Johannesburg.

The news was confirmed by Roc Nation Sports International on Wednesday and Hendrikse will join at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

It is a homecoming of sorts for Hendrikse, who went to school at Durban's Glenwood High with his brother - Jaden - who has been at the Sharks since 2020 and is now a World Cup winner with the Springboks.

Flyhalf has been an area of concern for the Sharks for some time now, where Curwin Bosch has been the preferred choice but without any other world-class alternatives.

While Hendrikse's arrival is obviously a welcomed injection of depth in that department, he has also slipped down the pecking order at the Lions where Sanele Nohamba has been the first-choice playmaker this season.

The Sharks are currently rock bottom of the United Rugby Championship (URC) table and are next in action when they take on the Lions at Ellis Park this Saturday.
