Heinz Ketchup, Diet Coke and other supermarket swaps shoppers say are saving them a fortune

As supermarket prices continue to rise customers are not only changing where they shop, but what they buy. With families being crippled by continuous price hikes, it's no surprise that so many are looking at ways to reduce their food bills.

One of the best ways of doing that is to see what swaps you can make to a cheaper brand. And it's something that shoppers are really getting their teeth into.

From swapping Lurpak for Aldi's Nordpak, to finding alternatives to Yorkshire Tea, we've pulled together recommendations from shoppers, which they say are just as good, or almost as good as the real thing - and it's saving them a fortune in the process.

Sharing his swap of Diet Coke to Aldi's Vive Diet Cola on the Reduce Your Supermarket Spend Facebook page, one shopper said: "I don't use Aldi for anything other than cat food, but picked up six of these for about £1.20 (actual price is £1.39 for six). Sceptical.... I can't tell the difference between it and Diet Coke."

And on the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas Facebook page, another shopper has been raving over the ketchup swap - having swapped to Aldi's Bramwells, which cost just 63p for a 625g bottle.

"In all fairness no one has really noticed the difference in my family," she said. "It taste nice and is thick and flavoursome it's fared up much better than the more expensive ones I've tried. So this is a winner that over the last 12 months has reached my expectations and I've saved over £25 a year on this one product change alone."
