Heavy congestion and lane closed on M4 near Newport after crash - live updates

There is heavy traffic and long queues on a stretch of the M4 after a crash. Both Traffic Wales and Inrix traffic monitoring system are reporting that there has been a crash on the M4 Eastbound.

The carriageway is partially blocked, with lane three closed. The accident happened between J28 A48 (Tredegar Park) to J27 B4591 Glasllwch Crescent (Highcross) at around 12:40pm on Thursday, December 29.

It is not currently known what type of vehicles, or how many, are involved. The emergency services have been approached for comment.
