Hearts vs Celtic LIVE team news and build-up ahead of the Premiership clash

Brendan Rodgers certainly hasn't had it easy on his return to Celtic and Scottish football.

The Irishman faces yet another tough away test in just his ninth Scottish Premiership match in charge of his second spell. The champions have already been to Pittodrie, Ibrox and Fir Park and are now gearing up for another notoriously tricky venue in Tynecastle.

It was exactly a year ago today, on the weekend VAR was first introduced to Scottish football, that Celtic edged a seven-goal thriller against the men in maroon in Gorgie as Lawrence Shankland netted a hat-trick and still ended up on the losing side.

It's the type of clash that we have seen over the years when these two meet in the capital. Steven Naismith will be hoping his side can put up a similar fight as they look to bounce back from the disappointment of tossing away a two-goal lead in the Edinburgh derby against Hibs before the international break.

Celtic have had their ticket allocation cut to just over 600 tickets and Naismith will be hoping the Hearts fans can play their part in roaring them on to a win that would move them to within a point of St Mirren in third place.

Find out if they can by following all the build up, match action and reaction right here in our LIVE blog.

Both Hearts and Celtic's women's teams are in action in the SWPL this afternoon, with Hearts taking on Motherwell in a 3pm kick-off at the Oriam National Performance Centre, while at the Excelsior Stadium there's also the small matter of a huge Celtic v Rangers clash that's in progress as we speak.

It's currently 0-0 in that one, a repeat of the Scottish Cup Final from last season, where Fran Alonso's Celtic side completed a 2-0 win to lift the cup.

Celtic’s last encounter saw them shrug
