Hearts transfer latest with Liam Boyce 'wanted' by Aberdeen as Grant, Shankland and Cochrane talks continue

All the talk has been of strikers coming into Hearts, but they could have a fight on their hands to keep the one they have. Liam Boyce is entering the final year of his contract at Tynecastle, and the Scottish Sun report that Aberdeen and Ipswich are keen to try and sign the Northern Irishman this summer.

However, Robbie Neilson remains a big fan of Boyce and he’s been a key player ever since arriving from Burton Albion in January 2020. He netted on his debut against Rangers but couldn't prevent the club from being demoted on a points-per-game basis.

Boyce finished as the Jambos top scorer last season with 16 goals in 41 appearances. It’s doubtful if Neilson would be prepared to let him go to a divisional rival, especially as he seeks reinforcements at the top end of the pitch. Talks over a move for Lawrence Shankland continue with Beerschot, although a fee is yet to be agreed for the Scotland striker. Shankland played under the Hearts boss at Tannadice and Neilson wants to add a number nine to his ranks.

The Gorgie club are awaiting a final decision from Peterborough United midfielder Jorge Grant. Posh accepted an offer from Hearts for the attacking midfielder and talks have taken place.

A more familiar face could be returning in the shape of Alex Cochrane. The left back spent last season on loan from Brighton, but returned to the Amex and signed a 12-month contract extension.

He looked set for another loan, with Coventry City leading the chase for his signature. But Hearts are now working on a deal that would bring him back on a permanent basis.
