Heartbreak as 'fit and healthy' woman, 23, dies months after shock diagnosis

A mum has told of her heartbreak following the death of her 'caring' daughter aged just 23.

Georgia Goodier died at her home in Warrington just months after being diagnosed with cancer, the Echo reports.

Doctors initially suspected Georgia had a water infection but when she continued experiencing pain in her right side she went to A&E, mum Cheryl Goodier, 45, said.

And after undergoing blood tests and examinations at Warrington Hospital followed by a biopsy on her liver, Georgia was given the devastating news she had adenocarcinoma.

Adenocarcinoma is a type of cancer that can occur almost anywhere in the body, starting in glands that line the insides of the organs.

Before her death on October 5, Georgia received treatment at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool, who her family are now raising money for. You can donate here.

Mum Cheryl told the ECHO: "You look back and think we were just robbed of time with her. We definitely thought we had Christmas and we thought we had most of this year.

"She never had any health issues at all in her life. It's surreal really. It doesn't feel real still - that's why we're doing as much as we can to keep going.

"She was only 22 [when she was diagnosed.] There's no family history of any cancer, other than years and years ago but there's no immediate family history of cancer.

"It was just a huge shock because she was so fit and healthy. She ate well, she didn't drink much, she was very active at the gym all the time."
