"He's better than Jimenez" - Journalist drops exciting Wolves claim on "perfect" 64-goal icon

Wolverhampton Wanderers should sign Liverpool hotshot Divock Origi as he would be the ‘perfect’ Molineux frontman and is ‘better than Raul Jimenez’, according to journalist Josh Holland.

Bruno Lage was appointed as Wolves’ head coach last summer and, ahead of his second season at the helm, could look to bolster his squad during the upcoming transfer window.

Origi appears to have entered the final weeks of his Liverpool career as the striker’s £82,000-per-week contract is due to expire in the summer.

That has put a number of clubs on red alert and, according to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, AC Milan are the frontrunners to secure the 27-year-old’s services.

But Wolves are clearly long-term admirers of Origi as he was on the verge of a £22million switch to Molineux four years ago before deciding to remain at Anfield.

The West Midlanders – along with Napoli – were also showing an interest earlier in the campaign, suggesting Lage’s appointment has not had an impact.

Wolves then saw at close quarters that Origi can be lethal in the penalty area as he grabbed a stoppage time winner when Liverpool headed to Molineux last December.

Holland has urged Lage to solve Wolves’ struggles in front of goal by signing Origi in the summer.

Wolves have only found the back of the net 33 times since the Premier League season got underway, meaning they are averaging less than a goal-per-game.

Holland believes Origi would be more of a threat for the West Midlands outfit than current striker Jimenez.
