"He looked like a 40-year-old": Sky Sports reporter drops "worrying" claim on Everton 26 y/o

Dele Alli’s form at Everton has been “really worrying”, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The 26-year-old arrived at Goodison Park on the final day of the January transfer window, looking to revive his career after a disappointing end to his stay at Tottenham, but he has failed to make a major impact on Merseyside.

It is hard to think of any.

In his first league match at the club, Alli came off the bench in the first half against Newcastle, yet he struggled to get involved in the contest as Everton slipped to a 3-1 defeat.

Since then, he has been limited to second half cameo appearances, and is still waiting for his first start under manager Frank Lampard.

Things do not appear to be heading in the right direction, though, as he has not registered a single goal or assist for the Toffees, and has been an unused substitute in each of Everton’s last four top-flight matches.

Bridge has been concerned by Alli’s performances when he has been given opportunities, and feels the 37-cap international has looked some way off the pace in games.

He believes the 6 foot 2 midfielder is not trusted by Lampard to have a positive influence on games at the moment.

Speaking about Alli to GIVEMESPORT, Bridge said: “He looked like a 40-year-old running around when I saw him a few weeks ago. It’s really worrying. Unless things change dramatically, it looks like Lampard is just not relying on him, not calling on him.

“When they’re losing, he’s not even coming on, not even a last-minute header. Can you imagine what Dele used to be good at back in the day? Sticking his head in the box.”
