Hayley Matthews to the fore as Ireland swept by Windies
Ireland have lost the third T20 test in the West Indies as the hosts wrapped up a 3-0 series sweep in St Lucia.
Hayley Matthews grabbed a hat-trick and smashed 48 as she continued her dominance for the Windies, having been named player of the match in the first two matches.
Matthews bowled Ireland's opener Gaby Lewis with her first ball, before Amy Hunter (44) and Orla Prendergast (40) added 66 for the second wicket.
But once they had departed, only Irish captain Laura Delany with an unbeaten 14 scored more than four as Matthews returned to mop up Rebecca Stokell, Arlene Kelly and Ava Canning in successive balls to finish with 4-14 as Ireland reached 116-9.
Prendergast gave Ireland early hope as she had Djenaba Joseph caught behind by Hunter for two, but Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne added 80 in 10 overs.
Matthews was eventually bowled by Georgina Dempsey for 48 off 34 balls, but Alleyne saw the hosts home by eight wickets as she finished unbeaten on 49 from 51 balls.
