Hawkshaw the latest to agree new Connacht deal

David Hawkshaw is the latest player to sign to a new deal at Connacht, with the former Leinster man agreeing a two-year deal to remain in Galway.

The 23-year-old was one of four players to join Connacht from Leinster last summer, and has made a real impact on Andy Friend's side, scoring three tries in 11 games for far this season.

The centre, who can also cover out-half, is currently sidelined with an ankle injury which is expected to keep him out until March, but after a promising start to his Connacht career he's now agreed an extension to keep him at the Sportsground until the end of the 2024/25 season.

"I've loved every minute of my time here and I want to thank all the coaches for giving me that opportunity," the former Ireland U20 captain said.

"I’m looking forward to the years ahead and hope to help the club go from strength to strength in any possible way."

A serious knee injury limited Hawkshaw to just 12 appearances during his time at his home province, before he linked up with Connacht.

He's the latest in a series of the province's first-team players to have agreed new deals recently, with John Porch, Caolin Blade and Dave Heffernan also confirming extensions.
