Anthony Martial has suggested staying at Sevilla would be “complicated” and that he moved there in the knowledge he would “surely” return to Manchester United.

Sevilla signed Martial on a six-month loan in January after an indifferent start to the season with Manchester United. For the Premier League club, he had made just four starts since the season began.

Therefore, Manchester United decided to loan him out, since there was little room for him in their plans. They sent him to Sevilla, without an option to buy, for the remainder of the season.

While in Spain, Martial has managed eight starts between La Liga and the Europa League, either side of some injury issues. He got one goal in the latter competition before Sevilla were knocked out, but is yet to get off the mark in La Liga.

However, he is happy to be getting his gametime back up again. That said, Martial cannot necessarily foresee a long-term stay in Seville.

He told ABC: “I see it very complicated to be able to continue at Sevilla. I’m not worried about that right now.

“I came knowing that it would be six months and then I would surely have to return to Manchester United.

“I’m very happy with the experience of playing in a new club, as big as Sevilla and having minutes again. If we manage to be a top four team, we will have achieved the goal and I will be happy for the fans, who have been very good
