Harry Kane: Revealing angle of Spurs star's so-called 'dive' for penalty vs Everton

Harry Kane marked his 400th game in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt with yet another goal for his burgeoning collection.

Spurs extended their strong start to the new Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday night that moved them level on points with Manchester City in second place for the time being.

However, it wasn’t a straightforward day at the office for Antonio Conte’s men as it took them almost a full hour to break down an Everton defence which had only conceded nine league goals all season going into the game.

And their breakthrough moment wasn't without a slice of luck as Jordan Pickford, who has largely been excellent in 2022/23, spilt a tepid shot from Matt Doherty directly into Kane's path.

The punishment wasn't immediate, though, as Kane wasn't able to tuck home the rebound, but rather found himself appealing for a penalty having gone to ground under pressure from the Toffees goalkeeper.

However, not everybody was happy with the circumstances under which Kane won the spot-kick in the first place with many fans pointing the accusatory finger of 'diving'.

In other words, there were plenty of supporters who suggested that Kane had exaggerated his reaction to making contact with Pickford in order to unfairly win a penalty and duly take the lead.

And while the D-word shouldn't be thrown around lightly seeing as it does literally implicate cheating, the initial replays of the foul did at least leave us sympathising with the idea that it was a 'soft' penalty.

You can certainly see where some of the less vitriolic fans are coming
