Harry Kane and Son Heung-min react to equalling long-standing record set by Chelsea legends

When Son Heung-min set up Harry Kane’s first goal against Manchester City on Saturday it was the 36th time the two men have assisted each other, equalling a Premier League record.

Kane scored twice in a superb 3-2 win for Spurs at Man City, giving them a huge boost in their push for a top four finish and breathing new life into the Premier League title race with Liverpool the chief beneficiaries.

There was a piece of history for Kane and Son as well, as their 36th goal combination matched the Premier League record long held by Chelsea legends Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

Behind the Chelsea heroes are Sergio Aguero and David Silva combining for 29 goals, the same amount as Thierry Henry and Robert Pires combined for in their Arsenal days.

Son was delighted to get to the record after waiting some months to reach the 36-goal mark.

‘We’ve been waiting for long, isn’t it!’ Son told Sky Sports. ‘This is a great record, I mean, this is historical. I didn’t do many things, this guy [Kane], sometimes I just cross the ball and he’s inside the box finishing so well.

So we are glad to have this record and I hope many more to come as well.’

Kane said on his link-up with Son for his first goal: ‘We had a lot of preparation obviously. We connect really well and have a great understanding off the pitch.
