Harry Kane accused of 'disrespecting' Tottenham after Manchester City masterclass

Stan Collymore believes Harry Kane showed some "disrespect" to Tottenham after his performance against Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Spurs went into the clash at the Etihad Stadium as huge underdogs, with league leaders City unbeaten in the Premier League since their defeat to Crystal Palace in October.

However, early on, Kane set Son Heung-min away with a fine through ball and the South Korean then squared it to Dejan Kulusevski, who netted his first Tottenham goal.

The hosts did equalise through Ilkay Gundogan before half-time, but Kane restored Spurs' advantage with a fine finish following a delightful Son cross.

Riyad Mahrez thought he had earned a point for City with a late penalty, but Kane was on hand to net his second goal of the game with a close-range header and earn a deserved three points for the north Londoners in Manchester.

It was Kane back to his best. It was the Kane we have not seen through the majority of this season.

The England captain was strongly linked with a move to Man City last summer, but Tottenham were determined to keep hold of their star player - and that they did. Many think Kane's form this season has been a domino effect from what happened in the summer.

Former Liverpool star Collymore, when writing in his column for the Mirror, praised Kane for his brilliant performance, but thought it demonstrated some "disrespect" to Tottenham.

"It was an exceptional all-round strike performance," Collymore said. "But where has it been all season? Is it grossly unfair on Tottenham and their fans who pay his wages that they don’t see it more.
