Harrington loses play-off to Stricker at Senior PGA
Steve Stricker claimed victory in Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship in Texas after defeating Padraig Harrington in a play-off.
Three-time major winner Harrington led the way for the first three rounds at Frisco, having got off to a flyer on Thursday by breaking the course record.
The Dubliner began the day with a one-shot lead over the field, and was three-under through the first seven holes.
However dropped shots at 8, 12 and 17, coupled with Striker's round of 69 meant he had to birdie the last to seal a play-off, which he duly delivered, finishing with a round of 70 as both men finished on 18-under par.
A sudden death play-off was the format, starting on the 18th.
It wasn’t to be however for the Irishman, where he gave himself a mountain to climb with a difficult second shot at the 18th, ensuring he had to drop for his fourth.
The 51-year-old did well to manage a bogey, but that allowed Stricker swoop in for victory.
