Harding seeks confidence at Tour Championship ahead of bumper DP World Tour stretch

Justin Harding is looking forward to getting some confidence at this week's Tour Championship ahead of a busy season for the South African.

The Tour Championship gets under way from Thursday at the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate with the Sunshine Tour's best for the R1.5 million prize fund. 

Ranked at No 105 on the World Golf Rankings, Harding is the top-ranked golfer in the elite Tour Championship field that sees 37 of South Africa's top 50 players on the Tour's Order of Merit.

Shaun Norris has a commanding lead on the Order of Merit with his four nearest challengers - Dean Burmester, Thriston Lawrence, Oliver Bekker and Hennie du Plessis - who all won't be teeing it up this week.

Harding has returned home to compete at this week's Tour Championship after having a solid season thus far, playing in eight events to date with three top 10 finishes - missing only one cut.

His last showing came at last month's Qatar Masters, where the 2019 champion finished tied for fifth and now looks to impress on home soil.

"It's nice to be back. I haven't been in Serengeti in quite some time. I like the golf course, it's looking good. The course is looking firm," Harding told Sport24 on Wednesday.

"My game is in decent enough shape, hopefully, the rest has gone. I'm looking forward to a good week. I had a great week in Qatar and was pleased with how everything went and it's a new week. I'm going to see if we can fire away."

While Harding doesn't expect a win this week, the two-time DP World Tour winner hopes that this week can help build on his bumper season ahead.
