Han-Noah Massengo makes intriguing admission on his Bristol City future
Bristol City midfielder Han-Noah Massengo has admitted he does not know if he will still be playing for the club next season.
Massengo joined the Robins from French side Monaco back in the summer of 2019, and has since gone on to make 97 appearances in all competitions for the Championship club.
With the 20-year-old impressing considerably during that time, there has already been a considerable amount of speculation around his future, with the likes of Watford and Freiburg credited with an interest in the French youth international.
Now it seems as though Massengo himself, is also uncertain what the future holds for him beyond this season, and whether it involves him remaining at Ashton Gate.
Asked whether he will still be a Bristol City player beyond the end of this season, Massengo was quoted by Bristol Live as saying: “I don’t know, I have no idea.”
The midfielder also admitted that nothing had yet been decided on his future, and when questioned about a return to France amid links with Lyon, he added: “I don’t know, I wouldn’t mind but I’ve never thought about it.”
As things stand, there is just over a year remaining on Massengo’s current deal with Bristol City, securing his future at the club until the end of next season.
That means this summer’s transfer window could be Bristol City’s last chance to receive a fee for the 20-year-old.
The Verdict
This will be a big concern for those of a Bristol City persuasion.
Massengo is an exciting, young talent, and it would be a big blow for the Championship club to lose him so early in his career.
However, there comments do not exactly instill confidence that he will be at Ashton Gate long term, with the midfielder seemingly non-committal about his future.
With that in mind,
