Hamilton vs Russell, Verstappen vs Perez, Leclerc vs Sainz: F1 teammates H2H in qualifying

The weekend just gone was a break in the F1 calendar, but the highly-anticipated British Grand Prix at Silverstone is just days away.

Lewis Hamilton may no longer be in the Championship picture, but the title race is still very intriguing, and with nine races down, this season has been unmissable.

At this point, it seems as good as any to compare the qualifying performances of all of the teams. Maybe somewhat surprisingly, George Russell and Hamilton in the Mercedes are the most balanced duo so far, with the younger of the two edging it five-to-four in his debut season with the constructors.

To the other extreme and both Ferrari and Williams are at a much wider scale. Charles Leclerc has out-qualified Carlos Sainz eight weekends out of nine and the same goes for Alex Albon and Nicolas Latifi respectively. The Canadian has had a rough time of it, making it easy enough for Albon whilst Sainz has hit quite a few forks in the road recently.

Another Canadian in the form of Lance Stroll is struggling once again in the Aston Martin. In fairness, Sebastian Vettel is a tough teammate/opponent for the son of Lawrence Stroll, but it has gone his way just once thus far also.

Last season in the Haas, Mick Schumacher made light work of regularly performing better than the now exiled Nikita Mazepin, but the tables are now turned. Kevin Magnussen has replaced the Russian and has been a great addition to the otherwise struggling team.

McLaren and Alfa Romeo both have a 7-2 split, but they are both very different at the same time. The experienced and much-loved Daniel Riccardo is struggling in comparison to Lando Norris.
