Hamilton, Verstappen, Vettel, Norris: Highest-paid F1 drivers for 2022

Lando Norris has put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him become the third-highest-paid driver in the paddock.

The young Briton is hot property on the Formula 1 grid after a groundbreaking season at McLaren that saw him finish sixth in the Drivers’ Championship overall.

Consequently, the new deal will net Norris a cool salary of £10.5 million-a-year until 2025, making him the third-highest-paid driver for the 2022 season, behind only the two big stars at Mercedes and Red Bull respectively.

Lewis Hamilton is by far and away the highest-paid driver, earning a breathtaking £40.5 million per season. That’s if he doesn’t choose to walk away after what happened at the end of last season…

Meanwhile, the new world champion Max Verstappen makes a tidy £18.5 million.

Given the revolutionary changes coming into force in the world of F1 for the start of the new season, it seems like a wise move from McLaren to lock down their star driver on a long-term deal as they look to push for a title-winning campaign once again.

Fans of the Papaya team will no doubt be ecstatic with news, and Norris himself is certainly feeling optimistic.

“I have the confidence in the team regarding what we have this year,” Norris said.

“What we have this year, we have no idea what that’s going to be against any other team. But I have strong faith in everyone at McLaren.

“They are working as hard as possible, doing the best job they can to continue this trend we’ve been on the last few years.”

And with Lando Norris at the helm for years to come, it’s clear that McLaren are perfectly placed to continue on with their push back to the pinnacle.
