Hamilton boss hints Norwich City and Liverpool linked young talents set for big moves

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin has hinted 16-year-old starlets Ryan One and Gabe Forsyth are set to be snapped up by bigger clubs ahead of the new season.

Striker One has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool, as well both halves of the Old Firm, while defender Forsyth is expected to be joining Norwich City imminently.

Asked if he expected the duo to play a part for Accies next season, Rankin said: "How big a part they will play is up to if they are still here.

"We will see how the situation develops over the next few weeks - maybe even days - and see how that goes.

"I'm sure with the maturity and ability they have shown over the last year, they will have a huge part to play if they remain at the club."

Forsyth has played five times for the first team this season but is regarded as a talented prospect, while One has shown he can handle himself in the professional ranks with 25 appearances under his belt for the first team and two goals in his maiden season.

Rankin added: "Interest in these players is always going to happen. When we give 16-year-old kids opportunities to go and play in the first team, straight away that flags up on databases of Premiership clubs, foreign clubs and they will come and watch.

"We give young players a chance. I think seven youngsters made their debuts for us this season.

"We are aware scouts from various clubs have come to watch our players and that is always going to happen when you have talented boys at 16-years-old.

"In Ryan's case, he has played over 25 games and Gabe has started games for us and played in the Championship.

"They are good, young, promising players so I'm not surprised they have been linked with clubs.
