Hamilton Accies star says Alloa clash won't influence play-off

Lee Kilday insists Hamilton Accies’ League One clash at Alloa on Saturday won’t have any bearing on their forthcoming play-off clash against the Wasps.

But he says a win at Recreation Park is a must to keep momentum going, ahead of the promotion push.

Hamilton are secure in second place, 20 points behind champions Falkirk, and 13 ahead of Alloa in third as they head for Clackmannanshire.

They will then play former Hamilton defender Andy Graham’s Alloa over two legs on May 7 and 11 to see who progresses to the pl;ay-off final.

Kilday said: “Alloa will be a tough game, and obviously the play-off games will be tough as well, but we just need to go there full of confidence and we need to win.

“We’ve not been great against them this season so come the play-offs we need to be at our best and show everybody how good we are.

“But I don’t think Saturday’s game will matter much in regards to that – you know what play-offs are like, and anything can happen.

“But it is a dress rehearsal before the game on the Tuesday.”

Kilday added: “Promotion would mean a lot, that was our aim at the start of the season, whether it was through winning the league or the play-offs, but it would mean a great deal and it’s something we’ll try our hardest to do.

“Falkirk have been brilliant this season, they’ve not been beat, and any other normal season you’re probably still tight at the top at this stage of the season.

“But fair play to them, they’ve done really well, and we just need to prepare for the play-offs.

“We have a lot of experience here so I’m sure by the time the play-offs come, we’ll be ready to go.”

Kilday, 32, bagged his first ever Hamilton goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Montrose at Links Park on Saturday with a winner after Blair Lyons
